小獅子(kojishi)

明日で2月も終わりです。感染者も少し減少しているようですが
ワクチンの効果が期待されますね。地方の感染者もこのまま減って
くれればいいのですが。多かれ少なかれ毎日の行動に影響していますからね。

February is over on the day after tomorrow too.
It seems that the number of infected people is decreasing.
The effect of the vaccine is expected.
I want the number of infected people in rural areas to decrease as it is.
It affects my daily behavior more or less.




思い出せばちょうど一年前、コロナウィルス感染が報道され始め、
マスクをしようかどうか迷っていた時期でしたね。嫌な予感もしましたが、
予想通り感染拡大して今もまだ真っ只中にいます。

When I remember a year ago, coronavirus infection began to be reported
and I was wondering whether to wear a mask. I had a bad feeling
about this, but the infection has spread as I expected and so
we're amid the COVID-19 spreading.




今まで夜の街とはあまり縁がなかったのが幸いしたかどうか分かりませんが、
飲み屋街の雰囲気は好きですね。でも人間やっている限り飲み屋街とは
もしかしたら不可欠な存在かも知れませんね。

Fortunately,I had almost nothing to do with the nightlife district.
I don't know whether it was or not, but I like a really good bar district.
The city centre(bar district) may be an indispensable existence as long as
there is human activity.




学生生活も終わり社会に出ると否が応でも飲み屋街が近くなるでは
ありませんか。まあ、そうでないな人もいますけどね。
私の場合、ここまで来たらコロナが終息しても諸事情が
飲み屋街から縁遠くさせるでしょう(笑)。

When your student life comes to an end and go out into the world.
Even if it doesn't matter, you had opportunities to go there many times,you see.
Well, some people don't. In my case, things will make me far from the bar
even if coronavirus comes to an end.




全然関係ない前置きが長くなりすみません、本題に入ります(笑)。
春を待って阿賀野川の土手の駐車場で作業しました。
Sorry, unrelated introduction has become quite long.
So here goes the main part.
I worked at the parking lot on Aganogawa riverbank after spring.




早速、センターを仕上げます。
First,finishing the centre.




タテヨコラインを仕上げます。
Next,finishing the vertical and horizontal lines.




各ラインを滑らかに仕上げるとこうなります。
It has become like this after smoothing the each lines.




おっかない顔になりましたね。
額の皺を入れるとさらに怖い顔になります。
It has become a scary face.
If you make wrinkles on the forehead, it will get more scared.




裏面です。舌と上歯の間に着けた時に息苦しくないように
空気穴を作ります。正面からは見えません。
Making the hole between tongue and upper teeth on the back side
as if you don't get suffocating when you wear it.
You can't see it from the front.




彫りが終わりました。
Carving has been finished.




獅子口大の小型版が小獅子かな。いや、そうだと思いますが、
ちっとも小さくは感じないんですが。舞台で舞う小獅子もまた
迫力がありそうです。

I wonder Kojishi would be a small version of Shishiguchi(big).
Yes,I think it would be. I don't feel it's small at all.
I suppose Kojishi dancing on the stage also seems to be powerful.

唐の時代、ある僧侶が三途の川にかかる石橋まで来た時に、
あちら側である(あの世)へ行ってはならないと現れた小獅子に
諭された。というのが舞のストーリーだそうです（ちょっと違うかな）。

In the Tang dynasty, When one buddhist monk came to the stone bridge
over the Sanzu River(the River Styx), kojishi appeared and advised him
not to go to the opposite side(Heaven).
That's the story.In the Tang dynasty in China.
(Maybe there would be a slight difference.)

先月は例年になく何回か雪が積もったのでその時の写真で
エンディングとします。
Unusually it snowed a lot last month.
I'd like to finish this time with the pictures at that time.
